From Roots to Leaves, Let’s Learn About Trees!

It’s hot, hot, hot in Texas. Thank goodness for trees that provide a bit of cooling shade.

Trees do a lot more for our environment than just give us a break from the sun. They are a key part of the ecosystem, give us fresh air to breathe and provide homes for living things including insects, birds and squirrels.

Help your kids learn all about trees in this new video from GROW Girl and the Fort Worth Public Library. The video introduces several trees that are common here in Texas, and it includes an easy and fun activity to help you estimate the ages of trees you might find in your neighborhood. Then visit these links to other resources about trees for both elementary-age and preschool children.
