United Way of Tarrant County Announces New CEO
This article comes to us from Steve Bobb, Board Chair of United Way of Tarrant County.
In September, the executive committee of United Way of Tarrant County’s Board of Directors launched a search for our organization’s next leader. This highly competitive search yielded candidates from across the country.
We are pleased to announce that we have selected Adam Powell to serve as UWTC’s new president and CEO.
Adam comes to us with 20+ years of experience, primarily in the nonprofit arena. A native of Alabama, he has lived and worked in the North Texas area for most of his career. The son of a state trooper and social worker, Adam says he was inspired by their perseverance and dedication, which led him to commit his life’s work to fulfilling the needs of others.
Adam’s nonprofit experience and results demonstrate his focus on positive community impact. I, along with the rest of the board, am excited about his ability to connect with stakeholders across Tarrant County and his record of securing investments to help our organization continue to innovate, thrive and grow.
Adam comes to UWTC from his role as president and CEO of Communities in Schools of the Dallas Region, where he doubled the organizational impact over five years and nearly tripled its revenue. Prior to Communities in Schools, Adam served as vice president of site operations for College Possible, a national college access and success organization. In that role, he was responsible for fundraising, program delivery, staff management and development, and community relations at sites in seven different cities across the U.S. You can read more about Adam’s extensive experience in a press release posted to the UWTC website.
Adam steps into the role as UWTC’s president and CEO on January 13, 2025. Until that time, Regina R. Williams, LMSW, will continue to serve as interim CEO. The board extends our gratitude to Regina for her dedication especially as she has filled both the role of interim CEO and her other position as EVP and Chief Impact Officer.
Please join us all in welcoming Adam to Tarrant County. We thank you for your continued support of the UWTC team and the work they do to make an impact in our community.
