Art and Preservation
Preservation is the Art of the City® is a show and sale of artworks by talented, local artists who were selected by a jury of Historic Fort Worth, Inc.
In its 19th year, this highly popular art show features approximately 60 artists each year. This year’s show is being held at The Woman’s Club of Fort Worth, 1316 Pennsylvania Avenue, an institution with an art department to further the education of women as studio artists.
2022 Honoree Morris Matson:
The 2022 honoree, Morris Matson, is 93 years young and a beloved friend of the arts and a personal collector of local art. He is a cheerleader for others to collect and an active member of the following groups:
- Collectors of Fort Worth Art
- Texas Art Collectors Organization
- Center for the Advancement and Study of Early Texas Art
2022 Featured Artist Linda Reedy:
This year’s Featured Artist is Linda Reedy, who started her are art career in textiles as a handweaver. Afterwards she returned to school to earn a degree in Fine Arts at Emmanuel College, Boston. Ms. Reedy continued her education via residencies at the Fine Arts University, Hanoi, Vietnam, and extensive course work at Mass College of Art in Boston
Award Juror: Jennifer Casler Price:
As is the practice of Historic Fort Worth, Inc., each year a juror affiliated with one of Fort Worth’s art museums is invited to serve as the juror for cash awards that are privately funded. This year Jennifer Casler Price, Curator of Asian, African and Ancient American Art at the Kimbell Art Museum, will select the award winners.

- Party with the Artists: Thursday, September 8, at 6:30 p.m.
- Gallery Night Saturday, September 10, 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Proceeds:
The proceeds from this event benefit the preservation programs of Historic Fort Worth, Inc., including the organization’s endangered properties and stewardship programs.
