Chef Luke’s Taste-y Journey
Meet Luke Cannon, CFC.
Luke’s love for cooking shines through in every dish he creates. He delights in crafting simple yet delicious meals, always adding a little twist to classic recipes to surprise and please his diners, adding his unique touch to every meal.
Luke’s culinary journey with us began as an apprentice in our 16-week culinary program. Here, he honed his skills and earned his ACF (American Culinary Federation) Fundamentals Cook Certification. Yet, Luke’s hunger for knowledge didn’t stop there. He dove even deeper into the culinary arts through a two-year Sous Chef Apprenticeship Program at Taste Community Restaurant.
When asked why he enjoys being an apprentice at Taste Community Restaurant, Luke shared how he loves seeing the community come together and values the opportunity to learn and experience new things alongside others.
Luke’s story is a testament to the transformative power of passion, hard work, and dedication. As he continues to blaze his trail in the culinary world, we’re honored to be a part of his journey. Cheers to Luke and the delicious adventures that lie ahead!
Every day apprentices like Luke learn hands-on in the kitchen at Taste Community Restaurant through our Culinary Apprenticeship Program. To-date, we have graduated 63 Apprentices from our CFC program and we currently have seven Apprentices enrolled in our 2-year Certified Sous Chef (CSC) program.
Our Culinary Job Training Program is a tuition-free, accelerated, foodservice job training program providing paid work experience while apprentices earn an American Culinary Federation (ACF) Certification. This is part of the iHEAL Collaboration funded in part by Texas Health Resources.
Our second location in Arlington will have twice the capacity to train culinary apprentices. This will triple the size of our certified training and allow Taste Project to have an even greater impact while also feeding our community through our pay-what-you-can meal service.
