Fort Work Arts Presents The Marks We Make
Fort Works Art is proud to announce the Opening Reception of The Marks We Make, an international juried exhibition exploring the enduring power and relevance of the human figure in contemporary art. The exhibition opens on Friday, November 14, 2025 with an Opening Reception from 6-9 PM, and will remain on view through January 17, 2026.

With over 400 open call submissions, we’re happy to announce the 24 artists selected from across the country whose works reexamine what it means to represent the human form today. The exhibition runs concurrently with Jenny Saville: The Anatomy of Painting at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the only U.S. stop for this exhibition, creating a city-wide dialogue centered on contemporary figurative art and the human form.

Juried by Sara-Jayne Parsons, Director and Curator of The Art Galleries at Texas Christian University (TCU), the exhibition reflects her international curatorial focus on contemporary figuration, representation, and inclusive narratives. Parsons will be in attendance for the Opening Reception to celebrate the selected artists.
Fort Works Art Director, Lauren Saba, states: “Being surrounded by museums of such international significance gives us the unique opportunity to align our exhibitions, at times, with the broader cultural conversations they’re leading, and that dialogue is incredibly exciting.”
