Ground Broken on Las Vegas Trail Neighborhood Health Center
In November, community leaders broke ground in west Fort Worth for a unique healthcare venture.
Standing on the corner of Calmont Avenue and Cherry Lane, the Las Vegas Trail Neighborhood Health Center is a joint venture between Cook Children’s Health Care System and JPS Health Network and will address the health care desert on the west side of our city.
“As we break ground today, let us not only celebrate this milestone, but also recognize the boundless potential of this community,” said Michael Crain, District 3 council member. “Let us look to the future with optimism and determination. The Las Vegas Trail Neighborhood Health Center is not just a building, it is a catalyst for change. It is the beginning of a transformation, a journey towards a healthier, happier and more vibrant community.”
Right now, the closest health care facility to the neighborhood is almost 10 miles away. The new health center will allow area residents access to pediatric and adult primary care, behavioral health services, and social services. In addition to health care, the center will house a food pantry, a job training center, and a Fort Worth police outpost.
