Opening in December
The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is happy to announce that it has completed construction on the highly anticipated Jane & John Justin Foundation Omni Theater. The Museum is ready to welcome guests into a new age of learning and exploration starting December 14, 2024.
Formerly known as the IMAX Omni Theater, the new Jane & John Justin Foundation Omni Theater features advanced technology that will immerse guests in a new 8K digital experience. The Omni Theater, powered by Cosm Technology, will be the world’s first LED digital dome of its size in a museum, positioning the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History as a world leader in the application of state-of-the-art visual technology.
The 18-month long renovation consisted of the full removal and reconstruction of the dome, making it bigger and brighter with nearly 12,000 LED modules lining the dome. With this renovation, a new generation of Omni-goers can view transformational content like never before. The Jane & John Justin Foundation Omni Theater can produce completely immersive multi-video presentations, corporate events, product launches, experiential fundraisers, and more for a best-in-class viewing experience.
As of now, the content shown in the Omni Theater will be focused on documentaries that will create unique learning experiences for guests which includes more than 50,000 field trip students each year. The Omni’s film lineup includes award winning films like Jane Goodall: Reasons for Hope and Cities of the Future, among others. And yes, there will be a new Fort Worth flyover, thanks to the help of Visit Fort Worth.
Aside from the technology update, one of the big goals was to make the Omni Theater experience accessible to all. The theater is now fully ADA compliant from the entrance all the way into the dome. The new lobby and queuing area are all one-level and the theater is lined with new, wider seats for up to 278, plus additional wheelchair accessible spaces.
Tickets to the new Jane & John Justin Omni Theater will go on sale on Monday, November 25. Museum Members receive a discounted ticket rate of $12 for adults and $8 for children (ages 3 and up). General admission tickets are $15 for adults and $11 for children (ages 3 and up). Tickets to the Omni Theater do not include general admission to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.
