Sneak Peek! 2024 in the Garden

The new year is bringing even more wonder and excitement to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden! Here’s a peek at the upcoming exhibits and events for 2024:

• Dinosaurs Around the World – Something BIG is coming to the Garden! See Dinosaurs Around the World, Jan. 26 through May 30. Created in collaboration with a world-renowned dinosaur paleontologist, this outdoor exhibit will feature advanced animatronic dinosaurs from every continent, a multi-layered narrative, and cutting-edge research for visitors to explore. Travel back to the Age of Reptiles and experience what it was like when dinosaurs walked the Earth!
• Butterflies in the Garden – Leave your passport at home and come to the Garden to experience some of the planet’s most beautiful pollinators all in one convenient place. Butterflies in the Garden will take flight, Mar. 1 through April 14, in the Rainforest Conservatory. One of the Garden’s most anticipated seasonal exhibits, guests will enjoy thousands of breathtaking exotic and native butterflies from around the world as they flutter through the lush foliage and tropical flowers in the conservatory. Don’t miss out on this rare display of butterfly beauty!
• Seward Johnson Sculptures in the Garden – Twenty-one life-size sculptures by the late artist Seward Johnson will be on display throughout the Garden, Mar. 1 – Sept. 1. This head-turning exhibit of “living” art will take Garden guests by surprise as they encounter sculptures that fool the eye and beg for double takes. Strategically placed to blend with their surroundings, Mr. Johnson’s unique creations strive to make everyday occurrences special and bring classic art to life. Experience the joy of discovering these lifelike sculptures placed unexpectedly, yet harmoniously in the Garden’s landscape.
• Kokedama Forest – This fall, look for a special outdoor display of more than 1,200 handcrafted kokedamas, a form of Japanese bonsai that transforms spheres of moss, twine, and seedlings into organic works of art. Each kokedama ball will be skillfully displayed in an intricate metal network within a tranquil micro-woodland that encompasses just 1,000 square feet of the Garden’s botanic space.
• Lightscape – Fort Worth’s favorite holiday light tradition will be back for a third year, mid-November through the new year! Brand new light displays, music and activities are sure to keep this immersive and magical experience on the top of your wish list for 2024. Tickets will go on sale in October.

Also, look for the new addition of bluebonnets this spring! The Garden has planted a field full of the popular Texas state flower and expects them to be photo-ready by early March. The perfect social media or family picture backdrop in the safety of the Garden.

Guests can also expect the Garden’s usual lineup of exciting events including spring tulip and daffodil blooms (Mar.-April), annual spring and fall plant sales (April 4-6 & Oct. 3-5), spring and fall Japanese Festivals (April 20-21 & Nov. 2-3), ¡Celebramos! Latin heritage celebration (late Sept.-Oct.), Dia de Los Muertos (early Nov.), and Dog Days (TBD) to name a few.
