The Carter Launches Second Thursdays
The Amon Carter Museum of American Art (the Carter) has launched a new monthly event, Second Thursdays at the Carter, which combines cocktails, conversations, and creativity to help connect people with art. The new event series, designed for adults, features a variety of activities each month — from performances, artist talks, and unique tours to art making, music, and films. Second Thursdays at the Carter has something for everyone to enjoy.
Every second Thursday, the Carter connects guests with artworks in our collection or current exhibitions on view. Attendees have the chance to participate in stimulating conversations, collaborate with local artists, and hear from some of the foremost experts in art and creativity. Carter members receive additional perks each month, including a free drink. Second Thursdays at the Carter kicked off on October 14, 2021. The night included live music by Jamal Mohamed Ensemble, drinks, and an art-making activity followed by a chance to hear from artist Anila Agha as she shared the stories behind her works in Anila Quayyum Agha: A Beautiful Despair.
“The Carter has been offering a variety of events for adults of all ages over the years,” said Madeleine Fitzgerald, Manager of Adult Programs. “Second Thursdays at the Carter brings the community together one night a month with activities that everyone can enjoy. We are excited to be able to welcome guests to our galleries and connect them with the artworks in a number of ways, from artist talks and art-making activities to guided tours, musical performances, and craft cocktails.”
This is a free event; registration for Second Thursdays at the Carter is required monthly. For more details and to sign up visit cartermuseum.org/2ndThursdays.
