The Ladder Alliance and One Safe Place to Merge on January 1
One Safe Place, a center for family and community safety, and a leading provider of domestic violence services in Tarrant County, is excited to announce The Ladder Alliance, a distinguished organization specializing in education and job training for survivors, will officially merge into One Safe Place and become “The Ladder,” a program of One Safe Place.
The merger will be effective on January 1, 2025.
As one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive Family Justice Centers, One Safe Place collaborates with more than twenty agencies to deliver a holistic range of prevention, intervention, healing, and empowerment services—all under one roof. This strategic merger enhances One Safe Place’s commitment to offering comprehensive, wraparound support for individuals impacted by domestic abuse and trafficking, particularly in the areas of career development and financial empowerment.
Economic abuse remains one of the most insidious forms of control exercised by abusers, and its effects on survivors can be devastating. Alarmingly, between 21% and 60% of domestic violence victims report losing their jobs as a direct result of the abuse, trapping them in cycles of trauma and violence. Even as victims strive to rebuild their lives, many face ongoing interference from their abusers. A staggering 66% of survivor’s report that their partners have disrupted their attempts to complete education or training, resulting in significant long-term economic setbacks.
These interruptions can have profound financial implications, as obtaining a professional license or certification can lead to an average annual income increase of $13,000, representing hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost lifetime earnings.
The Ladder Alliance equips individuals with the tools, skills, and certifications necessary to attain financial independence and break free from the cycle of violence. This merger will allow One Safe Place to provide even more robust support to survivors, ensuring they have access to the resources needed to regain control of their lives and achieve lasting stability and safety.
Together, One Safe Place and The Ladder Alliance are committed to empowering survivors, fostering resilience, and creating pathways to a safer, brighter future.
