United Way of Tarrant County Announces Campaign Co-Chairs
United Way of Tarrant County (UWTC) announces Jeff Williams, a long-time public servant and the former mayor of Arlington, and his wife Karen as co-chairs of United Way’s Get United: The Second Century Campaign for Tarrant County.
Williams currently serves as president and CEO of Graham Associates, Inc. In addition to his time as mayor of the City of Arlington (2015-2021), Williams has held leadership and volunteer roles with organizations including the National Medal of Honor Museum, YMCA, PTA, The Salvation Army, Mission Arlington and River Legacy Foundation.
“Mayor Williams and Karen are pillars of our community who have dedicated so much to bettering the lives of those in our communities,” said Leah M. King, UWTC president and CEO. “Their leadership, ability to bring together the right stakeholders to tackle important issues, and desire to create legacy impact for the betterment of our region are exactly what United Way is focused on in the launch of our Get United campaign.”
Get United: The Second Century Campaign for Tarrant County—with a campaign goal of $100 million—will fuel and fund programs and initiatives that make lasting impact and create a more vibrant and stable Tarrant County community for decades to come.
Early contributors to the Get United campaign include BNSF Railway, GM Financial, Rainwater Charitable Foundation, Paul Andrews Foundation, Tarrant County, and the City of Fort Worth. UWTC will host a series of community events across Tarrant County in 2023 to celebrate and engage the public in the Get United campaign.
“Get United reflects the optimistic vision of United Way of Tarrant County’s founders as they looked at our county and envisioned thriving communities, welcoming neighborhoods and a strong economy,” said Jeff Williams. “Those who came before us saw unlimited potential in what they were establishing and yet we have so much more work to be done. With United Way’s leadership, we can fulfill the desire to see our neighbors, friends, families, and colleagues live and prosper in a Tarrant County that is better for all.”
To launch the Get United campaign, United Way of Tarrant County hosted “Get United Day” at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas where they unveiled a community mural painted by Arlington native Jon McKenzie. The mural, which embodies the spirit of coming together for community good, currently stands in Globe Life Field’s North Plaza until early 2023, when it will then begin to travel to major events across North Texas for all to see. Residents are encouraged to visit the mural, and share their interactions on social media, tagging @UWTarrant with the #GetUnitedTarrant hashtag.
