Winners of Mayor Mattie Parker High School Art Competition Announced
Fort Works Art and Gallery of Dreams were pleased to host the Opening Reception for the 9th Annual Mayor Mattie Parker High School Art Competition this past Sunday, May 18, 2025.
Mayor Mattie Parker commended the event for its role in nurturing the artistic aspirations of the city’s youth, recognizing the exceptional talents of North Texas’s students, and celebrating the arts on a higher level.

First Place: Chloe Lindsey, “Secretly Admired Her,” Images Courtesy of Fort Works Art
The winners of the competition were announced by Mayor Parker during the Opening Reception:
1st Place: Chloe Lindsey, John Paul II High School, 10th grade, received the top honor, including a glass sculpture award, a check prize, and the prestigious opportunity to have her piece displayed outside Mayor Mattie Parker’s City Hall office for a whole calendar year.
2nd Place: Ava Coffman, Keller High School, 12th Grade, received a glass sculpture award and a cash prize.
3rd Place: Chloe Christian, Arlington Heights High School, 11th Grade, received a glass sculpture award and a cash prize.

Two Honorable Mentions:
- Megan Babcock, All Saints’ Episcopal School, 12th grade
- Lizzie Carver, Texas Academy of Faith and Arts, 12th grade
This year Ron Cheek selected 11th-grade artist Kitty Sollows from All Saints’ Episcopal School for a special scholarship opportunity to attend The Texas Academy of Figurative Art (TAFA) Summer Teen Workshop over the 2025 summer holiday, specializing in European Atelier training.
