An Epic Summer Camp Experience
Does anyone else find it crazy hard to believe that summer is only a few weeks away?
Along with all the excitement of school letting out and the glimmering hope of sunshine, vacations, and all the best parts of summer, there is also that small bit of panic in all of our minds. What do we do with the kids all summer, so that the Mom-I’m-BORED whining and the perpetual sibling bickering can be minimized. We all need a perfectly-planned summer activity calendar. While it may not be full, or let’s be honest, you may not have even begun planning your kids’ summer camp schedule yet, we all want to have an escape from the dreaded summer boredom that our kids inevitably face as the weeks pass.
As a military veteran and a student pilot, I am so excited to feature a unique and thrilling opportunity that is being held right here in Fort Worth. Your middle school- and high school-age kids will not want to miss the Epic Helicopters Adventure Camp. This exhilarating two-day adventure camp is for kids ages 12-18 (although exceptions can be made on a case by case basis). Led by Federal Aviation Administration-certified flight instructors, the campers will learn fundamental concepts of helicopter flight, experience the life of a helicopter pilot, and the wonders of flight. Campers will experience these inspirational moments through engaging classroom instruction, activities, and crafts. They will see several helicopters up close and meet the commercial pilots that fly them. They will experience first-hand how air traffic control works by being inside a control tower. Learning to fly a helicopter and then eventually going on a helicopter flight is the highlight of this camp.
I guarantee that your camper will come back talking about helicopters for days and have a newfound love and respect for aviation. Not only are you guaranteed to get all the Cool Mom points, but your campers will have major bragging rights about their newly acquired aviation skills when school starts again.
There are three different camp packages offered.
All packages include:
• Flight in a helicopter
• Air traffic control tower visit
• Classroom lessons on flying helicopters
• Flight simulator lesson
• Graduation certificate
• Class photo
• Camper t-shirt
For the Basic and Advanced packages, the camper will fly the helicopter under the direct supervision of an FAA licensed instructor. For the Student package, the camper will enjoy a helicopter tour but will not fly the helicopter.

Angela Weaver is a native Texan, raised in Keller, but she got to Fort Worth as soon as she could. At 17, she joined the Marine Corps and served four years active duty. After her military service ended, she went to work for a hedge fund and then a whiskey distillery, both in Fort Worth. Her most important role started in 2009 when she became a mom. She lives with her husband and two boys in Fort Worth and spends as much time as possible on fun adventures with her kids. She loves to spend her time with her boys outdoors getting the full Boy Mom experience, even if that means being covered in dirt, catching fish, or shooting BB guns. She loves the sense of community she has found in Fort Worth and can’t wait share that with our readers.
