University Little League Challenger Program Needs You!
Do you know a special needs child age 4-17 that would enjoy playing baseball? Little League’s Challenger program has been providing adaptive baseball programs for boys and girls with physical and developmental challenges for 25 years! Our local program serves between 12-20 players each season, and we are looking to expand! The league is inexpensive (usually $30) and we also offer scholarships as needed. We play (4) 90 minute games a season, everybody bats each inning and everybody scores. Local restaurants and bakeries often provide treats and we have a short award party after last game each season.
Would you or somebody you know be willing to volunteer as a buddy to one of the awesome special athletes? Each special athlete is paired with a buddy (ages 10+) that helps them as much or as little as needed. Their role is to make sure they are both having fun and being safe. It’s best when we find volunteers who can develop a relationship with 1 athlete over the course of an entire season or beyond. We regularly and happily sign volunteer hour certifications. If you are unable to commit to volunteering an entire season, just come out and cheer them on, it really is impossible to describe how special and fun these games are to watch.
