Fun in the Fort: It’s Gonna Be May
See what I did there? If you’re a part of my generation, you probably look forward to the pop culture memes like NSYNC songs for the month of May. Now that I’ve got that out of my system, let’s talk about all the fun happening around the fort the month of May!
May is chock-full of fun events like May Day, Mother’s Day, Cinco De Mayo and more! So, grab your planner and mark your calendar for upcoming events!
April 29th – May 2nd
This year, we will miss the delectable festival food, the live music and entertainment and most of all, the comradery that arises among the community. Even though we cannot come together in Trinity Park, we can still share some of the things that make Mayfest wonderful.
Beginning April 29th thru May 2nd, Mayfest@Home will be launched on their Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts. Like their page and join virtually as they share pictures and videos of exciting aspects of Mayfest – Confetti Eggs, dance contests, music, food, giveaways and more! You will not want to miss it!
May 2nd at 10 am – 3 pm
“The Fort Worth Botanic Garden | Botanical Research Institute of Texas (FWBG|BRIT) invites visitors to the inaugural “Spring Market in the Garden” May 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event offered throughout the combined campus includes the annual Spring Sip and Shop, a new Tea and Coffee Festival, and a free Afternoon in the Garden (12 p.m. – 2 p.m.).”
May 8th
“We will be offering a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and the Healthy Hig Half Marathon Relay live events on Saturday, May 8th, 2021. Due to Covid-19 we will be limiting the number of participants in each event. If you would like to run in-person register soon before each race distance fills up. You may also choose to run any of our distances virtually and complete those distances no later than June 30th. Virtual distances include the Kids 5K, Adults 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Full Marathon, Ultra Marathon or the Healthy Hig Relay.”
May 9th at 9 am – 12 pm
Treat a mother to a fun and delicious brunch experience that includes feeding giraffes, meet-and-greet with zoo outreach animals, and a personalized monarch adoption kit to take home!
May 6th at 3 pm – 6 pm
Carlise Title of Fort Worth is pleased to host this festive and free event for the whole family!
They will have two live alpaca from Alpacas of Aledo for photos, a Mexican candy bar, frozen treats cart, piñata, margaritas and more!

Celebrate women-owned business! Join the fun at six femme-founded coffee and tea houses in the first annual C.A.T. Crawl! One ticket gets you access to six signature drinks created specially for the Crawl.

Begun in 2015, Fort Worth Foto Fest is a celebration of all things photographic. This year, there are over 40 events, allowing you to learn from and be inspired by local and nationally celebrated photographers and creatives!
In addition to these fun events, throughout the month of May is a wonderful opportunity for you and your family to explore Texas wildflowers, local parks, and reoccurring farmer’s markets at Clearfork and Cowtown. So, get outside and enjoy all that this lovely month has to offer!

Gretta Hendricks is a multidisciplinary creative who has been a chocolatier, baker, birth-doula, performance artist, and freelance writer, although her favorite job to-date has been becoming a first-time mama to her beautiful rainbow baby, Ofelia, born in January of 2020. Gretta has enjoyed writing for as long as she can remember and is passionately interested in the ways she can both learn and share from the art of storytelling. Alongside her husband and daughter, she loves living in and exploring Fort Worth as well as pouring into her church and local community.
