I love September. School has been back long enough that school routines are established, and we can start exploring on weekends. Fort Worth has a lot of great family friendly things to do in September, so keep reading!

The most up-to-the-minute and least predictable concert music series in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Sounds Modern has been exploring links between contemporary music and visual arts for over a decade. Sounds Modern reaches beyond the traditional context of classical music, collaborating with modern art presenters and other non-traditional venues to share adventurous new music with adventurous new audiences.

In August Wilson’s American classic, Troy Maxson, a former star baseball player, is excluded from the major leagues, as a Black man. He is deemed ‘too old’ by the time the Majors begins admitting Black athletes. Troy’s bitterness takes its toll on his relationships with his son, who now wants his own chance to become a football star, and his wife, who reevaluates their marriage when Troy comes home with a secret that changes their lives.
Art All Night
September 9 at 5 pm through September 10 at 10 pm
Race Street
Celebrate arts and culture on Race Street between Sylvania Avenue and Riverside Drive. Stroll the street to view artwork and meet the artists. Listen to live music and participate in creative classes and arts demonstrations. Panther City Artists curate an outdoor gallery. Join them for a hands-on experience to create a public art project Saturday 2pm – 6pm. Shop boutiques, sip spirits and dine in some of the best restaurants in Fort Worth. Friday, Sept. 9 from 5pm ’til 10pm and Saturday, Sept. 10 from 2pm – 6pm.

The Mid-Autumn or Harvest Moon Festival, 中秋节 (Zhōng Qīu Jíe) in Chinese, is a widely celebrated holiday in China, and throughout Asia. On this night, it is said that the moon is at its brightest and fullest size, coinciding with the time of autumn harvest. Celebrate this 3,000-year-old festival with moon cakes, lantern-making, poetry, music, and more! Bring the whole family. Also bring a chair or blanket and be prepared to see a beautiful full moon rise (approx. 8:03 p.m.).
