I spoke to owner, Bailey ­Kirby, last week about her studio that will be opening in January. Bailey went to TCU and moved to Dallas after graduating. While working her 9-to-5 office job, she started going to Bar Method classes because they were convenient and close to where she lived and work. What she didn’t expect was how quickly she was hooked on the classes and fell in love with the workouts. She found relief from persistent back problems and for her aching muscles, saw a huge improvement in her posture, and gained a newfound sense of confidence. She credits her new energy for life and sense of pride to Bar Method. Bailey always knew she wanted to come back to the Fort and found the perfect opportunity to do so in opening her own Bar Method studio in the Shops at Clearfork. After a year of hard work and dedication to making her studio the perfect space, she is excited to announce the grand opening will be on January 26, with classes starting on January 7.

What sets Bar Method apart from other bar studios? Bar Method is rooted in physical therapy, and classes were created to ensure the workouts are safe and effective for everyone. Classes can be tailored to each client’s specific needs. It is gentle on hip flexors, and safe for those who suffer with any type of injury. 

Not only will clients receive an excellent and personalized workout, but the sense of community is incomparable. Classes are an hour long, but the Bar Method staff wants to encourage clients to stay after class to build relationships with the teachers and clients. This is about empowering women with a common goal to better themselves. This studio will be a communal space for people of all ages, shapes, and sizes to shape not only their bodies but their minds while building inner confidence.  A coffee bar will be set up for clients along with plenty of retail so you can look as cute as you feel while working out.

Another huge bonus… get ready for it… childcare! The Bar Method will be offering childcare for a nominal fee to allow moms to make the time for ourselves and get a great workout, knowing our kiddos are just across the hall being loved on while we have some “me” time.

Angela Weaver is a native Texan, raised in Keller, but she got to Fort Worth as soon as she could. At 17, she joined the Marine Corps and served four years active duty. After her military service ended, she went to work for a hedge fund and then a whiskey distillery, both in Fort Worth. Her most important role started in 2009 when she became a mom. She lives with her husband and two boys in Fort Worth and spends as much time as possible on fun adventures with her kids. She loves to spend her time with her boys outdoors getting the full Boy Mom experience, even if that means being covered in dirt, catching fish, or shooting BB guns. Diana Wilkinson brought the 26th location of the Hemline style empire to the Shops at Clearfork seeking to bring the company’s classically stylish vibe with a uniquely Fort Worth feel. After 36 years in the fashion industry, today Diana enjoys being in the store each day with her dog, Scooby, to welcome customers into the Hemline family. And it truly is a family affair. Her daughter, Katie, works in the store and manages their stunning social media. She keeps followers up to date on the latest looks, new merchandise, and flash sales via the Hemline Fort Worth’s Instagram feed. It all works beautifully, thanks in part to the fact that Diana is a third-generation merchandise maven. “My mom had a store growing up,” recounts Diana, “and she’d talk to everyone, share recipes with customers, and have dinners.” Evolving through her mother’s legacy, Diana says, “I love creating relationships with women. Kam Phillips-Sadler believes “you can only dream what you’ve seen”. Upon realizing the unique outlook her experiences in areas such as rodeo and skiing provided, Kam, a first-generation college student, created Dream Outside the Box, which mobilizes collegiate volunteers to engage K-5 youth in “dream deserts”. Kam is a Harry S. Truman Scholar from Fort Worth, Texas, and a proud alumna of the University of Missouri with a degree in Social Work. In her free moments, Kam can be found learning to code from her husband, Cameron, or working cattle with her family.

Today, however, we are much more aware of the many chemicals and pesticides that are present in our foods, unless they are certified organic. In a response to this awareness, grocery stores and boutique food/juice establishments seem to be popping up all around us. There is one particular juice business that stands out above them all, in my humble opinion! I recently had the pleasure of visiting Clean Juice in the Shops at Clearfork. Clean Juice Clearfork is owned and operated by John and Sue Gilbert, and their daughter, Allison helps them with the business as well. Sue and Allison are two of the most lovely souls I have met in 2018! Both women are nurses and have a passion for a healthy lifestyle and promoting wellness from the inside out, not to mention a spiritual faith that guides their steps and allows them to have hope for their community to believe they deserve to be the best they can be.

In speaking with them about their passion for Clean Juice and how why they got involved, Sue shared her side of the story. “I found out about Clean Juice while we were living in North Carolina. We fell in love with the products and went there frequently. It was after we moved back to Texas that we heard they were franchising, and we wanted to be a part of it. We love the products and that everything is organic and loved the philosophy of Clean Juice. The Clean Juices Bible verse 3 John 1:2, ‘Dear friend, I hope all is well with you and that you are as healthy in body as you are strong in spirit.’ We loved that verse and also their Mission Statement,
‘To provide the communities we serve with a truly healthy and delicious product in an inviting atmosphere that leads to a healthy body while supporting a strong soul.’ The brand just seemed like a right fit for us. I lost my mom several years ago to early onset Alzheimer’s, and I wanted to make a change in our lives and eat healthy and take care of myself and my family.” Allison stated that she loves the fact that they are the only juice company in the area that uses all organic ingredients, and she echoed the love of the company’s mission statement. Being a nurse and working in the healthcare field, she sees the need for being educated on what we put into our bodies.

So what’s the reason I love Clean Juice? (Thanks for asking!) Simply put, it’s delicious! I had the opportunity to taste a couple of their amazing products. “The Longevity” is made with organic ginger, apple, coconut water, pineapple, and spinach. After I tried that, I indulged in “The Superfood Hot Chocolate One”. Friends, it is sooooo gooooood!!!!! It’s organic ingredients include vanilla, maple syrup, matcha, coconut cil, cinnamon, cacao, turmeric, sea salt, and almond milk. I took home what I couldn’t finish (which wasn’t much) to my kids, and they liked it, too!

The menu has a variety of options to choose from, including smoothies, oats, toasts, and acai bowls. It is definitely more than just a juice joint! Their staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to help you make the best decision for your nutritional needs of the day. From the moment I walked through the door, I was smitten! It has a clean industrial/rustic vibe, and I was greeted with warmth by the whole team. They also sell Clean Juice t-shirts, hats, and sweatshirts for casual flare with a message to inspire!

And talk about how we can partner as a community and support each other?! They signed up the same day as my interview with them for my ZYN22 spin class! You’ll also be seeing my face in their store as their “Juice Booster”. I am honored. Love these people. Get to know them when you come in! They will bless you!

First, if you don’t have tickets to the North Pole Express Train in Grapevine, DO NOT worry because there are other amazing Polar Express adventures still available! The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is once again showing the Polar Express in the Omni Theater, and you can also attend a Polar Pajama Party complete with hot chocolate and wintery fun activities, all in your PJs. Another wonderful option is the Texas State Railroad Polar Express. We did it last year, and it was amazing! The depot is in east Texas, about 2 hours from Fort Worth and is definitely worth the drive. Tickets are still available for some rides to the North Pole on this train! I highly recommend it.

You’ve probably heard me mention Mainstay Farm. It is a well-loved place to go throughout the year and is especially fun during the holidays. This year, the Christmas Farm Adventure will be open December 2nd, 3rd, 9th, and 10th. They have 70 acres of activities, rides, and attractions. There is plenty to do with hayrides, duck races, pedal carts, a zip line, and a hay & play barn. This year, Santa will be there, and you can also pick a pre-cut tree or find the perfect growing tree to saw down and take home. Guaranteed fun here resulting in worn out kiddos.

On December 2nd, celebrate Christmas in the Stockyards. Festive activities will take place throughout the day from 11 to 5 pm. The cute western Santa will be available for photos, and Mrs. Claus will have story time with the kids, plus more exciting surprises!

Cendera Center is holding their annual Pictures with Santa event on December 2nd from 9 to 1 pm. All are welcome to come enjoy Santa Claus, crafts, and refreshments! This is a fun and stress-free experience for the whole family, including your favorite pets!

This is the first holiday season in Fort Worth for the Shops at Clearfork. They will have visits with Santa, complimentary horse drawn carriage rides, a 30ft feature tree with beautiful decorations throughout. Live Musicians and strolling carolers will also be around as well.

The Clearfork Holiday Market will give you the chance to shop with a wide range of local merchants and artisans on December 5. This is a free, family-friendly event and will include Santa Claus, reindeers, music, and a North Pole mailbox! You’ll want to head over to the Heart of the Ranch at Clearfork with your letters to mail to Santa from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

Breakfast with St. NICUlas is on Saturday, December 9th, from 8:30 to 11:30 am. The Fort Worth Club will be transformed into a winter wonderland, and this event is the perfect stress-free opportunity to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Enjoy a fantastic breakfast and know you are helping the Neonatal Intensive Care unit at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.

Leah’s Sweet Treats is hosting a Gingerbread Decorating Party on December 9th from 8:30 to 11:00 am. A pre-built gingerbread house is $25, and frosting, candy, and other design elements will be available and are included. You must reserve your spot, and seating will be limited. There is only room for one house per child, so be sure you reserve a house for each child that will be participating!

The Fairmount National Historic District’s Festivus in Fairmount is December 12th. Tour the neighborhood lights, explore Santa’s village, and visit with Santa and Mrs., Claus with cookies, carolers and more. It all begins at 5:30 at Kent& Co The Space. This event just keeps getting better and is one you don’t want to miss!

Santa will also be back in Sundance Square with a few changes this year. No more waiting in long lines because they have added a QLess program: check in with the Sister Cities volunteer and leave your mobile number. They can text you when it’s your turn to visit with Santa. All visits with Santa are $20, and the proceeds go to Sister Cities International Youth Program.

What with all the Santa activities, don’t forget about Panther Island Ice. Ice skating outdoors in Texas is unique and completely fun! Even the little ones who aren’t able to skate yet can hold on the side and scoot along. They are open every day of the week, including Christmas Day – perfect for a Christmas afternoon out of the house enjoying the fresh air!
