Yep, summer’s finally here. The mercury is pushing its way up, up, up, and your little darlings only look at you like you’ve lost your mind if you suggest going outdoors. So what’s a parent to do if they A) don’t want their children glued to various screens all summer long, and B) don’t have a pool in the backyard? The TWM Team has diligently assembled a list of pools, splash pads, and water parks and tested them all for you!

Burger’s Lake

Did you know that there is a spring-fed lake with not one, but two sandy beaches IN Fort Worth? There is! Burger’s Lake, located at 1200 Meandering Road near Camp Carter, is a great place to spend the day. There are charcoal grills for a cookout, lots of picnic tables and shady trees, a slide, diving boards, and a staff of certified lifeguards to make sure you stay safe while keeping cool. Admission is $15 per person, $5 for children from 1 to 6, and free for infants under 1. The last day of the 2019 season is Labor Day.

Bicentennial Park Splash Pad

Okay, so technically, this one isn’t in Fort Worth. Just 20 minutes south of I-20 is the splash pad at Bicentennial Park in Crowley. Free admission pairs with the zero-depth entry pad complete with fountains, sprayers, and water cannons to make this a fun place for children to splash and squeal. The park also boasts a disc-golf course for the older kids. The last day of the 2019 season is Labor Day.

Safari Splash at the Fort Worth Zoo

After a morning spent catching up with your favorite animals (we’re especially fond of the tigers and the otters here at TWM Team Headquarters), cool off at Safari Splash. Parents can enjoy a cold drink on a shaded lounge chair while the little ones play. There is a designated area for toddlers, which is extremely thoughtful. Cost is $5 in addition to the zoo entrance fee. The last day of the 2019 season is September 29.

Marine Park Aquatic Center

The newest Fort Worth City pool, the Aquatic Center at Marine Park is located just off North Main near La Playa Maya. The Center has the original pool with four lap lanes but has a zero-depth entry pad with a slide, water cannons, tipping bucket, and an interactive play structure. There are seven shade structures with lots of seating, and infant/toddler changing areas. Admission is $5 for children, $6 for adults, and $5 for seniors and current/former military with proof of service. The last day of the 2019 season is Labor Day.

Forest Park Pool

Just across from the Fort Worth Zoo is Forest Park, home to the oldest city pool in Fort Worth. Shut down in 2010 due to budget and maintenance issues, it reopened in 2013, thanks to local backers and the Radler Foundation. A more traditional pool with three water slides and lanes for swimming, this is a great place for older children and teens. Admission is, like the Marine Park Aquatic Center, $5 for children, $6 for adults, and $5 for seniors and current/former members of the military with proof of service. The last day of the 2019 season is Labor Day.

The post The Best Pools, Splash Pads, and Water Parks in Fort Worth first appeared on Tanglewood Moms.
