St. Paul Lutheran Church understands this and wants to share the hope, joy, and peace of the season. You are invited to celebrate the holiday season in a way that is socially safe with the Journey to the Manger on Saturday, December 12, and Sunday, December 13.

Many Fort Worthians are familiar with St. Paul Lutheran Church. The “triangle church” is located right off I-30 near Summit Avenue. The church has been a cornerstone of the Fort Worth community since 1893, and the St. Paul family has over 1,200 members, many of whom are involved in A Journey to the Manger.

Many members of Tanglewood Moms are familiar with the amazing school attached to the church that guides students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade through an academically rigorous curriculum while allowing them to grow in their faith. What many don’t know is that the campus of the church and the school is located on a hill, and the entire campus is used for A Journey to the Manger.

In A Journey to the Manger, you will travel back in time to drive through the streets of Bethlehem. You and your family will learn about the Christmas story from the safety and comfort of your own car. Bring a smartphone to listen to the audio portion of the experience; CDs will be available, as well. The audio is available in both English and Spanish.

The whole St. Paul community is involved in this wonderful program. Children from the school are part of the cast. (Keep an eye out for some pretty cute shepherds in the field!) Each scene tells a part of the Christmas story and brings you closer to the manger.

The Specifics

When: Saturday, December 12, and Sunday, December 13, from 6 to 7:30 pm

Where: The Journey begins on the corner of Forest Park Boulevard and W. Peter Smith Street

How Much? This wonderful experience is completely free!

How Long? The entire experience will take about 15 minutes from when you cross the starting line to the finish – it’s not long, but it packs a lot of fun into those 15 minutes!

• St. Paul Lutheran Church is still offering its Christmas Eve and Christmas services – masks are required, and seating will be socially distanced.
• The entire church community is involved in A Journey to the Manger, from the actors to the designers, from the script writers to the treat makers.

This season of COVID-19 has brought many restrictions and limitations. St. Paul Lutheran Church’s A Journey to the Manger offers Fort Worth families a way to celebrate the Christmas season together while remaining safe and socially distanced. After all, the Christmas story is a story of hope and peace rising from troubled times.
