TWM Gives Back: Kids Who Care
Kids Who Care is a musical theatre production company, but with a name like Kids Who Care, we are obviously so much more! Our mission is to create a place where the CHILD IS CHERISHED. Through exposure, education and experience in the performing arts and entrepreneurial leadership, we produce great kids!
What makes us so different?
- We create a place where the child is CHERISHED
- Leadership training is part of everything we do
- Our kids look like kids
- We only hire professionals who adore working with children
- We are financially diverse and culturally inclusive
2020 was a year of adjustments for all of us, and during this time, we felt it was now more important than ever to make sure that we delivered the healing power of arts to kids and teens no matter where (literally in the world) they were. In order to make this happen for as many kids who were able to participate, Executive Director Deborah Jung, and Education Director Pam Adair, created a full menu of musical theatre classes and workshops for kids aged 4-18. In these weekly sessions, kids and teenagers had the opportunity to study with top theatre professionals who were hosting their classes from rehearsal halls in New York City, Mexico, England, San Diego and Fort Worth. When the semester ends this May, we are so proud, shocked, and humbled that we delivered over 400 virtual artistic sessions to kids direct to their homes not only in Fort Worth, but as far away as Australia, Mexico and Luxembourg. The classes ranged from Hip Hop, Musical Theatre Dance, Puppetry, Shakespeare, and Improv, appealing to kids and teens of all ages and skills of all ranges!
In addition to these Musical Theatre classes, a creative team was formed, Project 2020+.
This Team of kids has been working alongside adults in weekly sessions for the past nine months to create a new musical that we are thrilled to announce will be released this July.
As we look to the year ahead, the safety of our Staff, Families and the Community is our continued priority. With our return to in person camps this summer, we will be offering three camps, all with the same goal; to have safe, memorable experiences while creating friends and musical theatre experiences that will last a lifetime!
As we return to hosting kids during the camp day, we need your help! We are looking to stock our shelves with the necessary items to help keep hands and surfaces clean, as well as small water bottles to keep everyone hydrated during the camp day. If you can help with these items, please contact Kristen at kristen@kidwhocare.org for drop off details.
Here’s how YOU can help!
Please consider donating:
- Hand Sanitizer Bottles – (8oz and larger only please)
- Packages of bar towels/rags – (new only please)
