Fun in the Fort: November 2017
Here we go everybody! It’s time to get ready for the busy holiday season! Let me help you with information on the top family events you do not want to miss!
First, don’t put away the Halloween costumes just yet because November 11th is Super Hero Science Day at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. The museum is celebrating heroes, from Superman to firefighters. Wear your favorite super hero costume (no masks please) and participate in the fun! Military, veterans, and first responders receive free admission all day with valid ID.
Lone Star Christmas at the Gaylord Texan is back and better than ever. From November 10-January 1st, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas will be the theme of the impressive 2 million pounds of ice sculptures to walk through. They will also have ice skating, snow tubing, snowball throwing, cookies with Mrs. Claus, gingerbread house decorating, and more. Just going to see the decorations is a reason to go. Use the special Tanglewood Moms promo code BRIGHT when you buy your ticket. This is one that you shouldn’t miss!
Six Flag’s Holiday in the Park begins November 17th. Enjoy the rides and festive shows plus holiday decorations throughout. They will have the Santa Land Express train that will take you to Santa’s magical world, and Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be there to welcome you.
The XTO Parade of Lights is coming! Sunday, November 19 at 6pm, there will be over 100 floats ready to go. It is free, and they suggest you come early and enjoy being downtown to avoid traffic and find the perfect spot to watch the parade. There is a shuttle service from Farrington Field beginning at 2pm. Don’t forget to bring a new unwrapped toy for kids in need. Santa’s helpers will be collecting toys before the parade.
Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer is at Bass Hall November 21 -22nd. The well-loved TV classic show will be brought to life on stage. See your favorite characters, including Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Your kids will love it just as you did as a child.
Casa Manana presents Santa Claus: A New Musical from November 24-December 23rd. The music and fun will put the whole family into the holiday spirit.
If you love to look at Christmas lights but don’t know where to go to find them, let me suggest the Enchant Christmas Light Maze. It is the world’s largest outdoor Christmas light maze that you walk through, plus they will have a skating pond, Santa’s palace, Christmas market, and live entertainment. They even have a kid’s mini-maze. The amazing event begins November 24th and will be at Globe Life Park in Arlington until December 31st.
My last recommendation is the best! Last year in the Tanglewood Moms Facebook group, many moms were looking for the best place to take their kids to meet Santa. Over and over again, the Stockyard’s Santa was mentioned, and y’all are right! He is the best western Santa in town! November 24th at 11:45 is Santa’s Stockyard Arrival where he will ride into town on a stagecoach pulled by beautiful horses. He will be dropped off inside the Stockyards Station in Suite 139 for photos with Santa. Mrs. Clause will be arriving too and holding story times throughout the day.
This time of year can be stressful because there is so much to do. I hope these recommendations help you plan for the season. Have fun and stay safe everybody!
Many thanks to the Fort Worth Stockyards for sponsoring this post!
