Party With a Purpose: SafeHaven’s Purple Party

SafeHaven of Tarrant County, Tarrant County’s largest and most comprehensive nonprofit organization aiming to end intimate partner violence, has announced that their annual Purple Party will take place on Friday, April 17, 2020. The third annual spring fundraiser will take place at the Ashton Depot in Fort Worth from 6 pm – 10 pm and will include drinks, dinner, and dancing all in the name of raising money and awareness for the organization.

This year’s event promises to be a party with a purpose. Hosted during one of the most impactful months of the year, Child Abuse Awareness Month, SafeHaven hopes to expand the awareness of their impact while raising support for these efforts. Many North Texans equate domestic violence as abuse between adult partners. However, SafeHaven serves more children every year as a result of partner violence than women. Many families fleeing from an unsafe home life include kids who are in need of support and a healthy transition. In 2019 alone, 971 children needed some form of support between the organization’s two shelters. For that reason, SafeHaven is dedicating this year’s Purple Party to the children they serve.

When asked about this important event and the families who are directly impacted by the generosity of its attendees, SafeHaven VP of Development and Purple Party founder Emily Hancock stated, “It has been amazing to watch Purple Party grow and gain in popularity over the last few years. We love that this event perfectly pairs a good time with doing good, and as Purple Party’s following gets bigger, so does the impact it has on the families we serve. As we move into the third year of Purple Party, we are anticipating a sold out event, which will allow us to help even more families seeking freedom from domestic violence right here in Tarrant County.”
