Nominate Your Hometown Hero
Camp Bowie District Inc. will salute military veterans with the launch of a new banner program called Hometown Heroes.
Beginning in July select light poles along the Boulevard will don banners bearing images of Fort Worth natives or residents who served the country through military service over the years. All branches of the military are eligible for nomination. The program is scheduled to launch March 1 with the nomination period and end July 31 at the conclusion of the banner display.
“This is our way of saluting our hometown heroes and their service to our country,” said Lydia Guajardo Rickard, Camp Bowie District Inc. executive director. “I can’t think of a better place in Fort Worth than the boulevard that was home to the city’s World War I camp and the origin of our military roots.”
The honoree banners are scheduled to be installed July 1 and remain through the full month of July. Families and friends can nominate their veterans beginning March 1. Applications will close April 12. The program is free and open to any veteran nominee from Fort Worth or who currently calls Fort Worth home.
