Thankful for Abundance: Eastland Baptist Church
Last November, you and Live Thankfully helped Eastland Baptist Church restock their food pantry for what was assumed to be a year.
The church’s food pantry feeds underprivileged children in their neighborhood. Students regularly visit Eastland Baptist after school and other programs for their evening meal. The door is always open, and no one is ever turned away!
When we were filling the food pantry, many of us thought, “Gosh, this is a lot of food to leave in one place.” We never considered dividing it up, though. We felt strongly that we needed to leave it all with this church.
God was already at work.
Eastland Baptist Church did not hoard the food they received. They shared it with others. They were able to bless two other inner-city churches with enough groceries to restock their food pantry, AND they were able to serve food to a low-income church in Arlington.
Fast-forward to May of 2020.
We reached out to Brother Calvin of Eastland Baptist Church to check on him, his congregation, and his neighborhood during the COVID-19 crisis. He humbly gave God all glory as he recounted the blessings of food provided last Thanksgiving through Live Thankfully. He shared that the church has opened the food bank to their community each weekend. People come from all over Fort Worth to receive groceries and a word of encouragement.
Calvin thanked us and “all the good people of Live Thankfully” for giving to the point of overflowing last year. The food pantry is still full, and his people have full bellies. The women of the church prepare meals in the church building and offer them to their elderly and immunocompromised members.
We had NO idea what God had in store last November when we felt led to give so much to this church.
Eastland Baptist Church is doing amazing things in their community and for that we are so THANKFUL – thankful for what they give to each and every person that walks through their doors. So many lives are touched and blessed by the church’s generosity.
The COVID-19 crisis is an uncertain reality, but the many blessings of community and service still outnumber the fears and confusion.
Thank you to the Live Thankfully community for being the hand and feet of Christ and the encouragement of hope to our city!
