Howling Success Returns with More Belly Rubs and Nose Boops
Dog Days, introduced in 2022, has been a howling success for canine fur babies and their human companions. This year, the Garden is expanding the program to one weekend a month, allowing pooches and their favorite people more opportunities to frolic on the grounds.
“We’re thrilled by the response to Dog Days and excited about the opportunity to welcome pet families to the Garden more frequently,” says Patrick Newman, FWBG CEO and president and proud owner of two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Charlie and Milo.
One fan of Dog Days excited for more opportunities to see the canines is Kate Mytchak, a TCU sophomore. She loves dogs but is unable to have one in the dorm. She and her friends try to visit the Garden on Dog Days weekends so they can catch up on the belly rubs.
“The only thing better than enjoying the beauty of the Ft Worth Botanic Garden is enjoying the gardens with dogs,” says Mytchak.
Dog Days will be held during regular Garden hours: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the winter and 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. in the summer. Regular admission is required for humans, with an additional $5 per dog. FWBG Members receive free admission and pay $5 per dog.
- The schedule for winter and spring is as follows:
February 4-5
March 11-12
April 8-9
May 6-7
Theses dates are subject to change, so please check the Main Events Calendar to confirm this schedule.
To ensure the success of Dog Days and safety of all participants, the Garden asks that guests and pets adhere to specific rules and etiquette:
- All dogs must be leashed, more than four months old and up to date on vaccinations.
- Waste must be bagged and placed in trash receptacles. The Garden will have bags available for use.
- Dogs must be socialized and well-behaved. If dogs are seen acting aggressively, Garden staff reserves the right to ask owners to leave.
We look forward to seeing you–and giving your dog lots and lots of belly rubs–soon!
