The Three Little Pigs Come to Casa Mañana
I have been taking my kids to Casa Mañana since 2010. In fact, my youngest son, now a kindergartner at Tanglewood Elementary, has practically grown up there since his sister started classes at Casa before he was born and has been in shows there. As a Tanglewood mom, it is another nice perk of living in this area to have access to a professional theater that is just 10 minutes away with easy, free parking and plenty of restrooms – you know, all the things that really count when taking small children somewhere!
The next show, “Stiles and Drewe’s The Three Little Pigs”, opens on March 18th and runs through April 3rd. It is my understanding that this will be a different spin on the story we all know so well. I love it when theaters take something I’m familiar with and give a different angle on how the story takes place. I like to think of it as teaching my children to think of things from a different point of view as well. The show ends up being a jumping off point for discussion as we talk about not only the performances (I have 3 theater kids), but also as we discuss the comparisons between the original story and the show. In this light, the shows are so educational (while entertaining), and the kids don’t even realize it. It’s like hiding shredded zucchini in spaghetti sauce – without the mess! The kids are getting something good for them, and you get priceless family time. Without a doubt, Tanglewood Moms should take advantage of the local treasure that is Casa Mañana!
