Tanglewood Moms, the group on Facebook, has been such an amazing resource for it’s members since we started the group back in 2011. There are over 3000 members and everyday moms ask dozens (if not more) questions about any number of things. Many times it’s about seeking advice for health providers. Recently someone posted asking about dentists that are located near us that are recommended. We are lucky in Fort Worth to have so many amazing options for dentists, but one practice in particular wants you to come and meet them to see first hand what sets them apart.
Smile Fort Worth is a family based business located at 3600 Hulen Street near Central Market. There are three doctors that make up the practice. Dr. Robert Batton, who lives in the Colonial area, has been with the practice for 30 years; Dr. Justin Harlin, who served in the US Marine Corps prior to becoming a dentist has been with the practice for 8 years; and Dr. Matt Wilkinson, who lives in the Park Hill area and graduated from TCU is the newest addition with 3 years under his belt at the practice.
I was able to spend some time talking to Dr. Wilkinson and Debbie, the office manager to get to know a little more about them. I was delighted to hear that they see patients of all ages from children to adults to geriatric patients. They are able to accommodate three children at a time with three different dental hygienists–this is absolutely key when trying to best make use of time with our busy schedules. They know that their tiny patients are going to be nervous and reluctant to getting their teeth cleaned or cavities filled but they use proven distraction techniques to keep your children’s thoughts on more pleasant thoughts during the procedures.
Dr. Wilkinson said they feel their practice excels at helping people overcome their fears of the dentist’s office even for the adults who come in to be seen. Sometimes patients haven’t been seen in 10 or more years because of a negative experience they had in their past. I get it, sometimes things in our past can really control our fears, but this is where these doctors want to change that for you. Smile Fort Worth uses sedation dentistry or conscious sedation for dental procedures including getting your teeth cleaned. They created a non-threatening environment with doctors and staff that want you to feel as relaxed as possible and to know that you are more than a patient, that you are a lifelong friend. Debbie told me that it’s not uncommon to walk into the office and patients are chatting with other patients because of their focus on family and nurturing their relationships with their patients.
They contacted me because they would like to meet you and for you to join them for an Open House and Patient Happy Hour on November 5th from 4:30 to 6:30pm. I think that’s the best way to meet someone who you will ultimately be trusting for your dental health. Go and chat with the doctors and staff and see if this will be your one-stop-shop for your whole family.
