7 Great Fort Worth Photo Ops
7 Great Fort Worth Photo Ops
We all do it. As I planned for the arrival of my firstborn, I perused the endless beautiful baby photos on Pinterest thinking, ‘you know, I could have taken that photo.’ So baby was born, and camera was bought, and I began to shoot pictures. Now, my photos have never been as beautiful or as professional looking as I wanted, but having little money, lots of time, and some talent, I’ve been able to take over the portrait needs for our little family. That being said, there’s nothing like having a truly professional portrait session in a one-of-a-kind location. Whether you are hiring someone to do your Spring photos or taking them yourself, here are some great places unique to Fort Worth and some pretty awesome Fort Worth photographers too!
Historical Stockyards
Use the iconic Fort Worth Stockyards sign, shoot outside a saloon, or next to the Trinity which runs under the street. There are also loads of interesting walls, doors, and fire escapes to discover up and down Main Street. Trinity Park
Not only can you find plenty of green space, but it also offers views of the Trinity River and downtown, the duck pond, and rustic railroad ties. Two other great natural spots to look out for are the Benbrook Lake and Eagle Mountain Park. They offer open fields, water, and interesting structures to add interest in your photos. Downtown Fort Worth
City landmarks like Sundance Square, the Fort Worth Water Gardens, and the Tarrant County Courthouse are beautiful and common backdrops for photos. Take advantage of amazing historical buildings such as the T&P Station. Its decadent art deco lobby contrasts with the clean lines of the terminals. Cultural District
The exteriors of the buildings such as the Kimbell Art Museum, The Modern, and Will Rodgers Memorial each have very unique personalities. The gardens and sculptures can also add interest to your shoot. Featuring Christy Ortiz
Bluebonnet Fields
Taking photos in the bluebonnets is a long-standing Texas tradition. My favorite spot is in Benbrook. Check online with organizations such as Bluebonnetlove.com where they track sightings all over Texas including the DFW area. Featuring Christy Ortiz
7th Street
This trendy location is loaded with fun and colorful options to use as backdrops for portraits. Featuring Bree Perez, Breelinne.com
Home Sweet Home
Sometimes we get so wrapped up in picking an unforgettable location, we forget to consider using the one with the shortest commute. Resident photographer for Tanglewood Moms, Bree Perez loves shooting her clients in-home. She offers us a few tips:
Ø Clear clutter
Ø Don’t be afraid of color
Ø Tour the entire house to find interesting/meaningful locations
Ø Don’t limit yourself to JUST the master bedroom
Ø Shoot when the light is good

Christy Ortiz is a Fort Worth native, and proud to say so. She earned her bachelor’s degree from UT Arlington in Interdisciplinary Studies. She taught for FWISD for eight busy years before switching gears and staying home with her two small children. Her hobbies are interior decorating for friends, photography, and flying kites with her kids. Her South American roots and love for the Spanish language and Latin cultures add to the diverse voices of our group.
